Management Gurus - 2006

Came across the top 50 management guru list from The Times of London. According to Times, the Thinkers 50 ranking is based on the votes of 1,200 business people, consultants, academics, MBA students and visitors to the project’s website. The most influential living management guru is Harvard University Professor Michael E. Porter, head of HBS' Strategy and Competitiveness group.

Link to the Times article here. And, here is a short list from that top 50:

  1. Michael Porter (2)* Harvard strategy specialist
  2. Bill Gates (20) Founder of Microsoft
  3. C. K. Prahalad (12) LBS strategy man
  4. Tom Peters (3) Leadership consultant
  5. Jack Welch (8) GE’s ex-CEO and celebrity
  6. Jim Collins (10) Author of Good to Great
  7. Philip Kotler (6) Kellogg’s marketing guru

Mod 3 is here

Mod 3 of my FastTrack is here. Already finished the first week of the Mod 3. In my first week of class I have come across 45 abbreviations/acronyms related to this module. The stream abbreviations themselves are so darn confusing to me. Other than that it is going to be an interesting module. More advanced stuff and picks of few things that we have left off in Mod 2 and few new areas.

Considering my background and experience I should feel comfortable with 2 of the streams related to Information systems and technology. Just spent my Friday afternoon preparing the reading material for my first face-to-face and it filled up the One and half inch ring binder. I have my long weekend to go through the material.
